Xenofile Editing Standard Agreement

By submitting your Editing Request, you and we agree to the following terms:

Payment and Terms. You agree to pay for our services at our published rates in effect at the time you submit your manuscript for editing. Our published rates may be found on the Rates page. You agree to the payment terms stated in the published rates.

Deposit. Typically, a deposit is not required. However, in certain cases, we may require a deposit or payment in advance. In that event, we will not begin work until we have received the deposit or payment.

Deadline. We will attempt to complete the editing of your manuscript within 14 days after we receive your manuscript, a formal request for us to begin the editing, and any required deposit payment. You may check on the status of your manuscript at any time by sending an e-mail with your questions.

Format. You should send your manuscript to us as an attachment to an e-mail. We prefer to receive manuscripts prepared in Microsoft Word, but RTF and plain text (ASCII) formats are also acceptable.

Acceptance. We have no obligation to proceed until we notify you by e-mail of our acceptance of your manuscript for editing. We can terminate our services at any time on notice to you or by refunding any deposit or payment you have made.

Your availability to respond to questions. As part of the editing process, we may have questions for you to answer. It is your responsibility to respond to questions promptly. If you do not respond promptly, your manuscript may be delayed and the cost may increase because of additional time required to complete the project. You alone are responsible for delays resulting from a failure to respond to any questions that we send to you. Your reply to our questions should be sent to us by e-mail.

Responsibility for Manuscript. You alone are responsible for the contents of your manuscript. We will not edit or verify the accuracy of any scientific information or ideas contained in your manuscript. In providing editing services, we will use best efforts to preserve the accuracy of information you present. You are responsible for reading any edited manuscript carefully to ensure that the meaning you intended has not been altered as a result of editing. We assume no responsibility for the content of your final manuscript before or after editing by us.

Your Copyright. You warrant and agree that you hold the copyright or other right that allows you to make changes to the manuscript you submit. We will not have or obtain any copyright or other right in your manuscript. You will protect and hold us harmless from any claim that the service we perform for you violates copyright or other laws in any respect.

Confidentiality. We will not disclose your manuscript to anyone other than those involved in our editing process. We will not copy or reproduce your work for publication or other use, except as necessary for our editing services. Upon acceptance of your manuscript for publication, we may list the manuscript title, authors, author’s affiliations, journal name, volume, pages and year of publication in our literature for dissemination to prospective clients.

Publication. You alone are responsible for submitting your manuscript to any journal for publication or scientific conference for presentation or for any other purpose. We provide English language editing services only. We will not participate in submitting your manuscript for publication and we cannot guarantee that the editing services we provide will result in the publication of your manuscript.

Final Product. After your manuscript has been edited, it will be returned to you for your final review and approval. If you have questions or concerns relating to any of the proposed editing changes, please attempt to contact us within five (5) days after you receive your completed manuscript. If you do not contact us within that period, our responsibilities under this agreement will be considered satisfied.

Satisfaction. If you are dissatisfied with the editing service you receive resulting from mistakes made by an editor, you may be entitled to receive your money back. Please contact us in writing to permit us to determine whether a refund is appropriate. You agree that we will not have any responsibility for consequential or other damages under this agreement and that our liability shall be limited to a return of any payment made by you.

Entire Agreement. This Editing Service Order Form, including the General Terms and the published charges for our services constitute our entire agreement and may not be amended or modified except in a written agreement signed by both parties.

Governing Law. We are located in the State of Louisiana, United States of America. Louisiana law will govern the construction and application of this agreement without application of any rule or principle of Louisiana law that would result in the application of the law of any other jurisdiction.
